Frequently Asked Questions
NowToPeek uses Android's 'Notification Access' permission to intercept and read message notification content. Since you're not opening the original messaging app, read receipts are never triggered. This is a purely local technology - no internet required, and no changes are made to any messaging app settings.
Yes! NowToPeek saves message content the instant a notification appears, so even if the sender deletes or recalls the message afterwards, you can still view the original content in NowToPeek. This works for all messaging apps including LINE, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and more. The only requirement is that you received the notification before the message was deleted.
Yes! LINE allows message recall within 24 hours, but NowToPeek saves the message content as soon as you receive the notification. So regardless of when the sender recalls it, you can always view the original message in NowToPeek. This also works for group messages.
Absolutely! NowToPeek supports all messaging apps, including Instagram (unlimited recall time), WhatsApp (~60 hours), Messenger (10 minutes), and more. As long as you received the notification, the message is automatically saved - the sender's delete action doesn't affect already-saved content.
All apps that send notifications are supported: LINE, Instagram, WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger, Discord, WeChat, Signal, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Twitter/X, Threads, Tinder, Bumble, and more - plus SMS and Email (Gmail, Outlook). If an app sends notifications, NowToPeek can intercept them.
NowToPeek can save images included in notifications (if the messaging app includes images in the notification) and contact avatars. However, most messaging apps only show text like 'Sent a photo' in notifications - the actual image can only be viewed by opening the original app. This is an Android notification system limitation, not something we can control.
Absolutely! All message data is stored locally on your device with encryption protection. NowToPeek never uploads any data to servers. If you choose to use Google Drive backup, data is AES-256 encrypted before being stored in your own Google Drive account - even we cannot access your backup content.
Notification access permission is the only legitimate way to read message notifications. Once authorized, NowToPeek only reads notifications from messaging apps you choose to monitor - it won't access other apps' notifications or any sensitive information. You can adjust which apps to monitor anytime in settings.
To ensure NowToPeek runs continuously, we recommend: 1) Add the app to battery optimization whitelist, 2) Allow auto-start, 3) Disable background restrictions for this app in system settings. Different phone brands (Xiaomi, Huawei, OPPO, Vivo, Samsung, etc.) have slightly different settings - the app includes detailed setup guides.
